Hi everyone
I am going to take an analyst position with a boutique I-bank in Georgia. I have a pretty crappy academic record and feel that this was going to be my only shot at getting into I-banking.

This is what I'd like to know

(1) Where do I go from here ? Do I need to stay with the firm for 3 years and then scram for an associate position elsewhere or could a jump be feasible earlier

(2) Does my CFA (i just completed level 2) help me if i want a shot at Private Equity ? If so, when should I look to make a move

(3) any other career info regarding where I can take my newly found i-banking career would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

"Where do I go from here ?"

You need to stick around for a little while. Probably not three years, but somewhere between 1 and 3 for certain.

Probably not much. But the contacts you develop in your job will. They will also make your academic record moot. The key is to get staffed on good deals that are going to good PE shops, and build the relationships. If you impress the PE guys on the other side of the table, they will offer you a job (without you even asking).

Anywhere you want to go...

I was very pleased with your notes and question bank. I especially like the mock exams because it helped to pull everything together.
