Hi all- I am seeking advice on how to move to the buyside preferably at a hedge fund or fund of funds. I am currently a credit derivatives controller at a bulge bracket i-bank in NYC. Previously, I was a small European bank doing middle office pnl/risk for their credit and equity derivatives books for 2 yrs. I have a Ivy League BA (history and poli sci) and I am a CFA III candidate (also have Series 7, 63, 55). My goal was to move the front office as a jr trader or jr structurer at my old firm, which was a possibility (several friends moved from MO/BO to FO), but never worked out for me. Unfortunately, in my current role it is very unlikely that I will have the opportunity to move the FO. My dilemma is whether I need to get my mba or is it possible to move into asset mgmt with what I have. Does anyone have any idea how difficult it would be to make a switch to the buyside given my experience? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. |
