Hi all

I would like to seek some professional advise regarding the employment opportunities after completing Level 1, 2. I am looking for a career change, currently working as a lecturer since 2012 in a Sixth form college in England, teaching Business Studies and IT. I teach general Business studies to AS classes and Operations mgmt. and Strategy mgmt. to A2 class. I am 41 years old male, passed MBA -2005 and MSc- Computing- 2007. I also got young family to support, but am willing to invest time and money in completing Level1,2 by going part time in teaching for the time being. But my main worry is how employer will perceive me as an older candidate when I will apply for jobs.

Do you think my age may be a barrier in getting interviews/job? Do you know is there any other route to enter in IB/Finance field? I will highly appreciate your honest opinion.
Thanks
Sam

I posted a similar question a few weeks ago but didn't get a response either. For myself, I concluded that my best chance is to enter IB as an IT Manager (which is what I am now). And I don't really mind that - the business seems to offer plenty and exciting IT challenges.

Otherwise, even if you manage to secure an interview and eventually a job, you may have to compromise a lot in terms of career level, maybe salary too.

This is just my personal impression from what I've read. But after all it also depends on your luck a bit I guess. It perhaps depends also on the market conditions at the time of your job search. And contacts ("networking")...

Actually, you have a MBA. That might help for you.

I'm doing now CFA Level 1 and intend to sit for FRM Part 1 & 2 also.

I just wanted to share the good news that I passed CFA Level I!!! Thank you for your help - I think the online question bank helped cut the clutter and made a positive difference.
