I've studied roughly 225 hours in about 7 weeks, and it has probably not been enough. I have a bachelors degree in Finance, and thus have a pretty solid background in some of the concepts such as equity, fixed income, NPV, derivatives. My biggest problems have been Stat, and Financial Reporting Analysis (certain portions very strong, other portions very weak). If I wasn't a Finance major, and I had no background, 225 hours wouldn't even scratch the surface. I think without a Finance background, 6 months would probably be too short of a time period to study but I guess it all depends on the amount of time an individual is willing to commit. Example: I didn't need to read into much detail about bonds, (which for some people I could see being the most difficult portion) because I have already spent alot of time with it previously to studying for the CFA. Note: I haven't taken the CFA Part 1 before, but I am basing this off of my knowledge and mastery of the topics. |

Amount of time depends on one's background so hard to say. as a rule of thumb 3-4 months. re. math, well it depends what do you mean by indepth, i would suggest to use just textbook and this should be enough. |
