Is the Level 1 exam more quantitative or qualitative? Has anyone here taken the level 1 exam before? Is it more like a math based exam or an analytical exam? Your advice means a lot to me. Thanks. |

According to the people that I know that have written the exam, they were all surprised about the qualitative aspect of level 1. In other words it turned out to be majourity qualitative. The more important factor is understanding the relationship b/w the numbers. I.E I don't think we will have to calculate FIFO and LIFO based on a charting type question, but bet your life we will have a question asking "In a period of rising prices, which method will result in lower income and a higher COGS". My advice would be when you are doing some quant practice questions, play around with the numbers and understand why and what the relationship is. (I.e even if there is a quant question dealing with bond pricing, in the question they give you a coupon rate that is less then the market rate you know right away the bond is a discount which may be enough to answer the question then and there. All in all focus on the analytics, but kno the quant well enough to make them easy pickings come exam time...GL!! |

I am using your study notes and I know of at least 5 other friends of mine who used it and passed the exam last Dec. Keep up your great work!
