So what does one need to pass? I've been hearing anything from 58% to 70%. That seems like a pretty wide spread to me. Can anyone shed some light on this?

i think that 70% is a good number to work on jobee, although this is not official. I get the impression that the CFA is graded on a curve and the objective should be to grade better than 65-70% of the rest of the people sitting the exam. That is why analystnotes grades you practice and mock exams on the basis of where you performed on the curve (ie in relation to others that have taken the test).
