Another interesting blog from the same guy (I don't agree with the strategy actually):

Before you study, please remember your goal is to pass the exam. So it is important that you look at the "exam topic area weights" for CFA Level 1 first, from highest to lowest.

Keep in mind not to spend too much time on the these three topics: Derivatives and Alternative Investments, and Portfolio Management.

The strategy to pass CFA Level 1 is to get top score on these topics: Quantitative methods, fixed income, economics and corporate finance. They add up to 54% of the total score and they are not difficult at all. Imagine you only get 35% for the rest of the topics, your total score will be 70% already! The CFA Institute, as far as I know, has never failed a candidate with a score of 70%. I hope you get my point so far.

I passed! I did not get a chance to tell you before the exam - but your site was excellent. I will definitely take it next year for Level II.
