I have a BA degree majoring in Journalism and Philosophy and have had about 6 years of work experience, 3 of which have been working at investment banks in Equity Research but only in a support role (Research Assistant) and I am really keen to get a more meaty finance role, possibly in Equity Research, but wondered what path to take next. I am convinced that I need to study further in order to take that next step up, but am wondering whether I should simply study CFA 1 or should get a whole new degree (BComm in Finance and Accounting or something like that)? Any advice would be much appreciated? Also, will I stand a chance of passing the CFA with no finance studies behind me (I did A Level Maths)?

I just wanted to share the good news that I passed CFA Level I!!! Thank you for your help - I think the online question bank helped cut the clutter and made a positive difference.
