Hi everyone, I am a live-at-home with parents, community college drop-out with a 2.5 gpa before I withdrew. I was majoring in astronomy, but then I learned that the sun doesn't revolve around the earth, and I said forget that. Mostly I just sit around doing nothing, play some PS3, talk on the phone, or loiter at the local 7 eleven. I have decided I really want to do investment banking at Goldman Sachs. My strength is a passion for the financial markets, an open mind, and I'm going for the CFA L1 exam. I'm sure registering for L1 shows my dedication and will set me apart when job searching. What are my chances? |

Given that you talk on the phone, it seems that you have some great qualities in building and maintaining relationships. I would definitely leverage that. The PS3 will show that you have some experience working with technology, and you are probably very good at reading people from the 7 eleven. I would say your chances are pretty good, but not without some hard work. Best of luck. |

while a healthy dose of reality check for newbies is always worthwhile, its purpose should be to have them reassess their weaknesses and find a better suited strategy to their goals rather than put them down and tell them 'you're unworthy' i mean, some of the finance hotshots ripping on that poor guy in the other thread are probably ed jones back office monkeys who majored in business as undegrad and think they are the $hit. laughable |
